Penn State plans march to counter offensive photo

Excerpt:

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State University pupils are arranging a multicultural march to respond to issues about racial intolerance after an offensive sorority photo appeared. The Centre Daily Times reports (http://bit. ly/XLwoXU) a group called PSU For All Student Equality will lead an exhibition Thursday. The event comes in response to an image of sorority sisters at a Mexican-themed party. The sisters wore fake mustaches and sombreros. An indicator in the photo says "will mow lawn for weed + beer.". University junior Manuel Figueroa says marchers will include members of multicultural groups and pupils worried about campus range. About 5 percent of Penn State students are Latino. The Chi Omega sorority has apologized and is on probation. University president Rodney Erickson admonished the pupils last week but declined to pursue disciplinary action due to free speech protections.
